Run/walk goes through the scenic trails of
the beautiful, historical Bushy Run Battlefield, Route 993,
Penn Township. A little challenging but fun. Chip timing.

Friends of
PTARC Scholarship for PTHS Seniors
College scholarship offered to PTHS students who are
children or relatives of Friends of PTARC or PTARC
volunteers or who have volunteered for these organizations
themselves.
This $500 scholarship award is based upon volunteerism for
Friends of PTARC or PTARC. Applicants must be seniors at
Penn-Trafford High School whose volunteerism took place
while he/she was in high school and will attend a college or
technical school upon graduation. Minimum 2.5 cumulative
GPA.
Applications available at the PTHS Guidance office.
Scholarship awarded at PTHS Awards Night.

ABOUT FRIENDS OF PTARC
Who Are We? Friends of Penn-Trafford Area Recreation
Commission is a non-profit, tax-exempt Pennsylvania
corporation created to provide funding for community
organizations, including the Penn-Trafford Area Recreation
Commission, to support community projects, recreational
programs and activities, and community development projects.
What Do We Do? Friends of PTARC's goal is to raise
funds to renovate existing parks and recreation facilities
in the Penn-Trafford area and develop new parks and
recreation facilities for our residents to enjoy.
How Can You Help? Friends of PTARC is asking
community-minded organizations and individuals to donate
funds, materials, labor, and/or time to assist in the
completion of these projects.
Why Should You Help? Parks and recreation
facilities provide:
- Places for families to hold birthday parties,
bridal and baby showers, graduation parties and anniversary celebrations.
- Facilities for parents and caregivers to take
pre-school children for fun activities, outdoor
exercise, and early
childhood education.
- Places for after-school activities, club meetings, fitness,
nature, and fun activities
for school-aged children.
- Facilities for life-long learning, fitness, and
wellness activities for adults.
- Places for senior adults to gather, socialize,
and participate in activities and exercise.

Public Meetings: Regular meetings of Friends of
PTARC are held bimonthly on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 pm
in the Penn-Trafford High School Warrior Center.

Got A Buck for the Recreation
Center?
If every resident of the Penn-Trafford School District
gave $1, we can raise $26,083 to go toward the renovation of
the PTARC Recreation Center in Level Green. Just add $1 to your
program registration fee.

Gary Proskin donates $25,000 in cash, materials and labor to
name the former library/kindergarten building in Level Green
the “PTARC/Shelley Proskin Recreation Center”.

The upper level of the building which contains a large
multi-purpose room, kitchen, bathrooms, and offices will
open June 12, 2006!

The Ralph Hiller Company donated office
furniture to assist with the initial furnishing of the PTARC
Recreation Center.

Keystone Premium Floor Coverings donated the installation
of the VCT tile, linoleum flooring, and carpeting in the
upper level of the PTARC Recreation Center.

With the continued support of community-minded businesses
and individuals, the upper level of the PTARC Recreation
Center should be ready to open in June 2006!
