About Friends of PTARC
Who Are We? Friends of Penn-Trafford Area Recreation
Commission is a non-profit, tax-exempt Pennsylvania
corporation created to provide funding for community
organizations, including the Penn-Trafford Area Recreation
Commission, to support community projects, recreational
programs and activities, and community development projects.
What Do We Do? The Penn Trafford Area Recreation
Commission acquired the former kindergarten/library building
in Level Green and 22 acres of property adjacent to Sunrise
Elementary School. Friends of PTARC has established its
initial goal to raise funds to complete the rehabilitation
of the Level Green building into the PTARC Shelley Proskin
Recreation Center. The completion of this project will cost
approximately $100,000.
How Can You Help? Friends of PTARC is asking
community-minded organizations and individuals to donate
funds, materials, labor, and/or their time to assist in the
completion of these projects.
Why Should You Help? The PTARC/Shelley Proskin
Recreation Center provides:
- A place for families to hold birthday parties,
bridal and baby showers, graduation parties, and anniversary celebrations.
- A facility for parents and caregivers to take
pre-school children for fun activities and early
childhood education.
- A place for after-school activities, homework
supervision, club meetings, fitness, and fun activities
for school-aged children.
- A facility for life-long learning, fitness, and
wellness activities for adults.
